The Pinnacle Center for Professional Development in Fairfield, N.J., which offers a series of healthcare information technology educational programs, has multiple sessions scheduled during August, September and October.

In addition to health IT professionals, the courses are appropriate for clinicians, informaticists, administrators and managers who are or will be involved in a major IT initiative, according to the company. Pinnacle staff also will travel throughout the continental United States to provide the sessions for five or more students.

In New Jersey, the center has scheduled two-day Introduction to Health IT courses on Aug. 3-4 and 5-6; as well as a Healthcare IT Workforce Boot Camp for Aug. 10-15. The same programs will be held in September and October. The Health IT intro course costs $1,995 per student and the boot camp costs $4,495, with group discounts available for both courses. The 36-hour boot camp covers  20 areas of health IT in four broad categories: Safety and Quality; Health IT Systems, Project Management; Health IT Organizational Management and Health IT Value. Five topics covered in each category takes 9 hours.

The Introduction to Health IT course is designed for entry-level health IT or clinician staff. Course topics include overviews of the healthcare delivery system, technology environments, systems development life cycles, project cycle management, HIT operations, managing HIT and the healthcare IT revolution.
