Private HIE Planned for Baptist Memorial
Memphis-based Baptist Memorial Health Care will build a private health information exchange linking its 14 hospitals, 250 employed and thousands of affiliated physicians, and also connecting with HIEs across Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.
Memphis-based Baptist Memorial Health Care will build a private health information exchange linking its 14 hospitals, 250 employed and thousands of affiliated physicians, and also connecting with HIEs across Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.
The delivery system will use the HIE technology of McKesson Corp.'s Relay Health division. The HIE will include a Web portal enabling patients to access their electronic health information via personal health records updated by the exchange.
The patient access portal and ability to connect inside and outside the delivery system as well as to other HIEs were instrumental in the selection process, according to Baptist Memorial.
