The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on July 2 published a proposed rule to govern the outpatient prospective payment system during calendar year 2011.
Premier, in a comment letter, suggests development of a framework for assessing proposed measures. Criteria for new reporting measures, according to the organization, should include endorsement by the National Quality Forum, field-testing and publicly reporting for at least a year, and alignment with electronic health records meaningful use criteria where appropriate to reduce duplicate reporting.
