Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare is publishing patient reviews of its physicians. The reviews, gathered by independent patient research company Press Ganey, are posted on the piedmont.org website, regardless of whether they are positive or negative, according to the organization.

“Piedmont is one of two health systems in the country to publish reviews at this scope,” said Matt Gove, chief marketing officer at Piedmont. “Publishing these reviews is about becoming more transparent about our customer experience and also empowering the public to make informed decisions about their health.”

Unlike ratings posted on independent healthcare review websites--including Healthgrades, RateMDs, Vitals and Yelp--the reviews posted on piedmont.org are written by verified Piedmont patients. While no patient names or information is revealed due to privacy laws, Piedmont said that consumers can be confident that the information provided in the reviews comes from actual patients.

Currently, approximately 210 Piedmont physician profiles showcase patient reviews on piedmont.org. Soon, the organization said that their remaining 800 or so physicians will also have their reviews displayed publicly once they earn 30 or more reviews.
