The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is making available 10 grants totaling $16.3 million for state-designated health information exchanges to develop and test solutions to five challenging areas of data exchange that can be replicated nationwide.

The areas for testing are: achieving health goals through HIE, improving long-term and post-acute care transition, consumer-mediated information exchange, enabling enhanced query for patient care and fostering distributed population-level analytics.

Only direct award recipients of state HIE funding from ONC under the HITECH Act may apply for the new awards ranging from $1 million to $2 million.  For more information, click here. The Funding Opportunity Number is EP-HIT-10-002.
