ONC to Fund State HIE Pilots

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is making available 10 grants totaling $16.3 million for state-designated health information exchanges to develop and test solutions to five challenging areas of data exchange that can be replicated nationwide.


The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is making available 10 grants totaling $16.3 million for state-designated health information exchanges to develop and test solutions to five challenging areas of data exchange that can be replicated nationwide.

The areas for testing are: achieving health goals through HIE, improving long-term and post-acute care transition, consumer-mediated information exchange, enabling enhanced query for patient care and fostering distributed population-level analytics.

Only direct award recipients of state HIE funding from ONC under the HITECH Act may apply for the new awards ranging from $1 million to $2 million.  For more information, click here. The Funding Opportunity Number is EP-HIT-10-002.
