Two health information exchanges in Ohio, Health Bridge in Cincinnati and the Greater Dayton Area Health Information Network, now offer electronic transmission of immunization data from providers to the Ohio Department of Health’s registry.
The HIEs launched the service following pilot testing with two primary care practices--Family Physicians of Urbana and Reading Family Medicine in Cincinnati--which sent data from their electronic health records systems to the state’s immunization registry.
The initiative is part of HealthBridge’s participation in the federally funded Beacon Communities program in 17 communities across the nation to serve as model sites for comprehensive use of health information technology.
