Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina will outsource management of its information technology in a deal that includes selling its I.T. shop to the outsourcer.

Fujitsu America will buy and operate the data center under a five-year, $250 million contract. Support functions cover mainframes, servers, desktop computers, telephone systems, networks and information technology security.

The agreement affects 210 employees. Fujitsu will offer jobs to about 185, and the Blues plan will retain the others. The companies expect to complete the transition in February.
