NextGen announces acquisition of EagleDream Health

$26M purchase adds cloud-based analytics services aimed at clinics, systems, says Rusty Frantz.

NextGen Healthcare Information Systems has announced plans to acquire EagleDream Health, a cloud-based analytics company.

The acquisition, announced Tuesday, will give NextGen the ability to offer its customers analytics capabilities. EagleDream Health offers capabilities across clinical, financial and administrative data to optimize practice performance.

NextGen executives say they expect the transaction to close in the next few weeks, paying $26 million in cash to make the acquisition.

The EagleDream Health purchase is the second this year for NextGen, which in April announced that it had bought Entrada, a Nashville, Tenn.-based provider of cloud-based solutions that uses a mobile app that integrates with multiple clinical platforms and the electronic health records of several major vendors.

With its vendor-agnostic platform for managing value-based care, EagleDream Health offers analytics and actionable intelligence to achieve population health management. The proposed acquisition will enable NextGen Healthcare to enhance the care experience and increase patient engagement for ambulatory clinics and health systems while reducing the per capita cost of healthcare and improving the work-life balance for clinicians and staff.

“NextGen Healthcare is committed to ensuring our clients can effectively navigate and achieve success within a transforming marketplace,” said Rusty Frantz, President and CEO of NextGen Healthcare. “EagleDream Health’s sophisticated analytics platform is a catalyst to unlock additional value for our clients, providing a depth of clarity and context that empowers doctors to provide the highest quality of care, regardless of where they are on the continuum from fee- for-service to value-based care.”

NextGen is a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems.
