Patient engagement and care coordination software vendor Axial Exchange has launched the Patient Engagement Index to rank hospitals in the United States in how deeply patients are involved in their treatment.

The first index ranks 74 hospitals in Florida on personal health management (50 percent of score), patient satisfaction (25 percent of score) and social media engagement (25 percent of score). The top three hospitals and the only ones with scores in the 80s on a 0-100 scale are Parrish Medical Center (89), Palmetto General Hospital (88) and Hialeah Hospital (87).

The 17 lowest-ranked hospitals all scored in the 30s. The Florida hospital rankings and a white paper are available here. The Raleigh, N.C.-based vendor will issue rankings for other states or regions in the coming months.
