IEEE, a professional association for engineers in multiple industries, has developed five new plug-and-play standards for interoperability between medical devices, personal health devices and smartphones/personal computers.

That brings the total of such standards, designed to support wellness monitoring, preventive care, independent living and fitness, to more than 20. The new standards cover pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, weight scales and body composition analyzers. More information is available here.
