Health IT Certification has launched a new Operating Rules Administration certification program, as the first operating rule to make HIPAA transactions more uniform--the eligibility and claim status rule--nears its Jan. 1, 2013, compliance date.

The Affordable Care Act mandates adoption of a series of operating rules between 2013 and 2016. The new certification program targets individuals in provider, payer and vendor organizations with responsibilities for planning, implementing, using and/or maintaining processes associated with the operating rules.

“The Certified Professional in Operating Rules Administration (CPORA) training and certification program walks through the business case, I.T. needs, revenue cycle management and business operations that are needed to take advantage of the productivity improvements, cost savings and revenue enhancements that operating rules help add to the transactions standards,” according to an explanation from the firm.

Health IT Certification also offers programs to certify professional in health information technology, electronic health records and health information exchange.
