The program is designed give physician practices a way to gauge the qualifications of a growing number of consultants and other professionals offering their services to help practices become medical homes, according to NCQA. Newly certified experts include physicians, nurses, other allied health professionals, social workers, psychologists, medical technicians, hospital administrators and independent consultants. More information on applying for certification is available here.
NCQA continues to operate a separate patient-centered medical home recognition program for practices, with more than 5,000 practices having received the recognition.
