The Department of Health and Human Services on July 13 will release the final meaningful use rule, as well as an accompanying final rule setting data standards, implementation specifications and electronic health records certification criteria.
HHS will issue the rule during a 10:00 A.M. event at its headquarters in Washington. Participants will include HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius; Donald Berwick, M.D., Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator; David Blumenthal, M.D., National Coordinator for Health Information Technology; and Regina Benjamin, M.D., Surgeon General.
The Office of Management and Budget has completed its review of the rule, which was the final step before publication.
