Mosaic Life Care picks software to standardize registration

Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of health information technology contracts and implementations.

* Mosaic Life Care, which operates 58 clinics and its flagship St. Joseph Medical Center in Missouri, will implement software from AccuReg to standardize and automate patient registration processes. Mosaic bought the entire suite of software covering quality assurance, eligibility verification, authorization management, medical necessity, advance beneficiary notice, payment estimation, point-of-service collections, payment processing and a payment portal. Business intelligence software to identify accounts that may turn problematic also is in the package.



* Sinai Hospital in Baltimore has contracted for real-time predictive clinical surveillance analytics from PeraHealth to support physicians and nurses in identifying early changes in patient conditions before the changes become apparent through vital signs. By enabling earlier interventions, the hospital expects to reduce unplanned visits to the intensive care unit. PeraHealth’s product is the Rothman Index, which captures 26 different types of patient and measuring data from the electronic health record, runs it through predictive analytics and displays a 0-to-100 score and graphing trends for each patient indicating whether the patient is getting better or declining.

* Regional West Health Services in Scottsbluff, Neb., will install Cerner’s inpatient and ambulatory electronic health record systems. “The process to implement a new electronic health record system has begun, but it takes many months to switch all systems over and educate the staff on the capabilities a system like this can provide,” says Montie Hodge, vice president of information technology and CIO. “Our patients should be seeing the impact over the next two years.” Regional West Health Services is the parent company of Regional West Medical Center, a 182-bed referral center supported by 28 physician clinics.

* University of Pennsylvania Health System signed with Sectra for an enterprisewide picture and archiving communication system. The various PACS will support diagnostic radiology, breast imaging with mammography workflow, 2D and 3D orthopedic templating tools and an advanced visualization portfolio. The modalities will integrate with the existing radiology information system, Epic Radiant and the Epic EMR.
