Mobile App Keeps Medical School Applicants Updated

The University of Michigan Medical School has launched a mobile application for prospective students to check their admission status and be alerted to updates.

The University of Michigan Medical School has launched a mobile application for prospective students to check their admission status and be alerted to updates.

The medical school last year received 5,266 applications, interviewed about 700 and accepted 170 students. Interviews for this year began on August 19 and continue through January with a rolling admissions process starting Oct. 15.

The M.D.Stat+ app is available for download to iPhone and Android devices, and a secure Web site enables checking of status from any smart phone Web browser. The app displays whether an application has been received, an interview has been offered or a user has been admitted. Icons displayed on an iPhone or Android device signal a change in status.

The app was introduced as a recruiting tool as the admissions office seeks to find additional ways to communicate with prospective and admitted students. It is available at iTunes App Store and Android Market, and the mobile-friendly Web site is here.
