Mercy selects Visage Imaging for large enterprise archive

- Mercy, the fifth largest Catholic health system in the nation, has signed a seven-year contract to use the Visage 7 Open Archive enterprise imaging platform across the four states in which it operates. The project will involve migrating more than 25 million diagnostic exams, totaling 800 terabytes, from the present archive to the new one. In an initial phase last year, Mercy eliminated nine separate legacy PACs. Completion of the current work is expected in the third quarter of 2019.
- UW Health, the delivery system at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has chosen Oracle Cloud as its enterprise resource planning system that includes financial, supply chain and human capital management modules. The university expects to increase business agility, optimize delivery of healthcare services and improve patient outcomes. The seven-hospital system has 1,500 physicians and 17,000 staff serving more than 600,000 patients each year. “Technology and regulations have accelerated the rate of change in the healthcare industry and our legacy business systems were struggling to keep up,” says Elizabeth Bolt, senior vice president and chief operating officer.
- The state of Virginia has gone live on a new program, using technology from Collective Medical Technologies to connect all emergency departments and give near-real-time communication and collaboration among providers, insurers and care management personnel for patients receiving emergency services. Virginia is the first state to connect all its emergency response personnel in this manner. Over time the initiative, called the Emergency Department Care Coordination Program, will bring on board other providers including primary care physicians, case managers, nursing homes, community service boards, private behavioral health providers and Federally Qualified Health Centers.

- PMC Regional Hospital in southern Indiana will implement the Expanse electronic health record system of Meditech in late 2018. The hospital was designed by physicians who own it and factors that weighed the selection decision in Meditech’s favor included the native web-based nature of Expanse, comprehensive integration capability and embedded clinical workflows built into the EHR.
- Rhodes Group, the informatics subsidiary of TriCore reference laboratories in Albuquerque, has selected InterSystems’ HealthShare unified health record to create and manage views of patient data. Through HealthShare’s information exchange software, Rhodes Group can create a longitudinal and standardized data repository across TriCore’s laboratories.
