Medivo Inc., a vendor of decision support/analytics software to improve follow-up care after laboratory tests, has acquired WellApps Inc., which sells mobile devices to enable chronic patients to record symptoms and transmit them to physicians. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Medivo’s free, advertisement-supported software analyzes lab results to identify patients who have gaps in recommended testing or haven’t scheduled a follow-up appointment.

WellApps has two existing products for collecting information. GI Monitor for inflammatory bowel disease is used to track medications, monitor stress patterns, record pain levels, log meals, track bowel movements and track customized symptoms, according to the vendor. The Colonoscopy Prep Assistant device tracks the number of glasses drunk and sets a timer to notify a patient of the next glass. The company is developing additional products for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia and depression.
