HealthInfoNet, Maine's health information exchange, recorded a profit of $1.2 million last year, according to its recently released annual report. The Portland-based organization reported total revenue of $6,425,699 and expenses of $5,207,639.
The organization also brought all of Maines 37 acute care hospitals under contract to connect to the HIE. "Once all are connected, Maine will be one of only a few states in the country to have all of its hospitals connected to a query-based HIE like HealthInfoNet," the report said. "Thirty-four are currently connected with the remaining three expected to connect by the end of 2014."
