Many RECs are picking vendor partners that have agreed to sell products and services at reduced prices, often with standard contract provisions. The goal is to speed the vendor selection process by having RECs conduct initial due diligence work and give providers a list of finalists from which to make their EHR selection.

The Kansas REC has a two-tier system of EHR partners. Tier One vendors have agreed to a master services and supply agreement without modifications or with modifications that leave the intent of the agreement's provisions intact. These vendors include Cerner, eClinicalWorks, e-MDs, McKesson, Pulse and SuccessEHS.

Tier Two vendors have accepted most of the terms, conditions and protections in the agreement but have amended others. These vendors include NextGen and Sage. More information is available at kfmc.org/rec/vendors/vendorpartners.html.
