San Francisco-based Vista Equity Partners has sold Surgical Information Systems for an undisclosed sum to Norwest Equity Partners in Minneapolis.

Vista Equity bought Alpharetta, Ga.-based SIS in 2007. The veteran niche vendor sells a range of information systems for the surgical suite including anesthesia, analytics/reporting, nurse documentation, scheduling, tracking and perioperative dashboard applications. The current executive team will remain with the company.

Norwest Equity Partners since 1989 has invested in dozens of companies spanning multiple industries, but only three were in health care and have been divested over the years. One of the owned firms was Transition Systems, which became Eclipsys and now is part of Allscripts.

Norwest Equity's other I.T. holdings include Amcom Software (unified communications), Mitchell International (auto insurance claims processing) and Rosetta Stone (language learning).
