Integrated Cardiac Device Management Cuts ED Wait Times

Clinicians at the University of California-San Diego Medical Center's emergency department were able to cut wait times by an average of 92 minutes using the Geneva Healthcare Suite, a technology platform for managing data from cardiac devices.

The Geneva Healthcare Suite organizes health data from multiple sources on a dashboard that makes information available immediately to all clinicians.

"Using Geneva's technology platform we have been able to quickly train our ED staff on how to collect information about a patient's device regardless of the device manufacturer or type of device. We do not have to rely on each manufacturer's device representative or on different proprietary reporting systems," said Theodore Chan, M.D., UCSD emergency medicine chair.

The UCSD Medical Center has been using the Geneva Healthcare Suite in two of its emergency departments since September 2012.
