Ancillary electronic health records software and integration vendor Iatric Systems has acquired medical device integrator Accent on Integration for an undisclosed sum.

Boxford, Mass.-based Iatric sells more than 80 applications to enhance electronic health records systems, such as modules--and interfaces--for lab or public health reporting, computerized physician order entry, bar coding, enterprise master patient index and patient portals, among others. The company is known for its long-term relationship with Meditech, but works with the EHRs of dozens of vendors.

Now, Iatric’s portfolio will include the Accelero Connect platform and consulting services of Dallas-based Accent on Integration, which specializes in integrating patient monitors, ventilators, smart pumps and other medical devices with EHRs and health information exchanges.

Iatric will retain Accent’s employees, with Marc Andiel, Accent’s president and CEO, becoming senior vice president of professional services; and Jeff McGeath, vice president and CTO, becoming vice president of patient-care device integration. Accent is a small company and becoming part of Iatric will give it the size and scale to significantly expand its reach, Andiel says.
