Wellness and rewards program HumanaVitality has released its first mobile application, providing a new wellness tool to the increasing number of members using smartphones to manage their health and fitness progress.

The app, available for both Android and iOS users, offers a custom dashboard that allows members with employer-sponsored insurance plans to create and track personal wellness goals and milestones.

The company says the app allows users to:

*Customize their wellness journey by setting individual short-term milestones

*Reach personal health goals by tracking activity across multiple fitness devices

*Receive advice and support from health coaches via phone

*Stay motivated by participating in challenges with other users

*Earn Vitality Points to redeem at the HumanaVitality Mall for movie tickets, music downloads and more

To get started, members select specific wellness goals, such as get active, eat better, lose weight, or reduce stress. Using measurable data and health assessment results, HumanaVitality then provides the tools and advice for users to begin their personalized pathway to well-being.

“Development of the HumanaVitality Mobile App was a collaborative effort across the Humana enterprise, which allowed for rapid development and distribution,” said Kristine Mullen, Humana’s vice president of wellness strategies and solutions, and the app development team’s leader. “It’s a strong indicator of Humana’s efforts to close the gap between health and care.”

HumanaVitality, headquartered in Chicago, is a joint venture between Humana Inc. and Discovery Holdings, Ltd. The company says it has more than 3.7 million members who are enhancing their health and wellness through a comprehensive integrated approach to lifestyle improvement.
