Analysis of data on ambulatory providers’ satisfaction with their claims clearinghouses finds many are generally pleased with their vendor’s performance.

A report from vendor research firm KLAS Enterprises hammers home that message with its title: “Ambulatory Clearinghouse 2014: Choosing Between Strong Performers.” The firm surveyed customer perceptions of 12 clearinghouses.

Providers were “very satisfied” with seven: ZirMed, Navicure, Office Ally, Practice Insight, Gateway EDI, Capario and Availity. Provider customers of GE Healthcare and Allscripts in general reported being “satisfied,” while those with Emdeon, Optum and RelayHealth reported the companies are “meeting needs.”

On a 1-100 scale, ZirMed scored highest at 91.5 and RelayHealth was the lowest at 77.3. Inconsistent support was a prime reason for lower scores. But overall, “Clearinghouse vendors have some of the highest performing solutions that KLAS monitors,” according to the firm.

Eight of the vendors support both small and larger ambulatory facilities and five got relatively close satisfaction ratings from both types of providers. Exceptions included Availity and Emdeon being significantly more appreciated by small provider clients, and GE being heavily more favored by their larger customers. ZirMed was the most consistent with a 91.9 score among smaller facilities and a 90.4 score with bigger facilities.
