Eleven hospitals serving the Ottawa, Canada region will use the online supply ordering network of Louisville, Colo.-based GHX, formerly known as Global Healthcare Exchange.

The hospitals formed Champlain Health Supply Services, a shared service organization, to provide integrated supply chain services to the facilities, which have disparate information systems.

The hospitals will use the vendor's data management, price management and supplier contract pricing software. They also will use a service enabling the sending and receiving of electronic transactions from suppliers not connected to GHX or without electronic data interchange capability. The hospitals expect the network will connect with 90 percent of their medical-surgical suppliers.
