The HIT Standards Committee, a stakeholder advisory panel to the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT, seeks public comment on specifications to support health information exchange across the nationwide health information network.

Government agencies currently dominate use of such specifications and the committee is specifically looking for input from non-federal organizations that have implemented the specifications. Comment also is welcome on as new recommendations the committee made on Sept. 28.

"Following analysis of the comments received through December 15, 2011, the HITSC intends to present its recommendations to the ONC to help inform decisions regarding future investments in additional NwHIN pilots and specification development," according to a new blog posting on the reactivated Federal Advisory Committee blog of the HIT Standards and Policies committees. It is the first posting in six months.

The full solicitation for comments and a copy of the Sept. 28 recommendations are available here.
