Hennepin County goes live on private network

In other implementations, Grand River Hospital turns on new ED system.

Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of new health IT contracts and go-lives.
  • Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis is live on a private network sitting on a platform from Ciena. The IT initiative at the 484-bed facility has several goals, including connecting its data centers and other key locations; supporting research; improving connectivity across the enterprise and particularly to the trauma center; supporting remote employees; and quickly retrieving data from electronic health records, enterprise resource planning and human resources systems while also easing the sharing of electronic health records.
  • Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario, has turned on a new emergency department information system from Wellsoft and integrated the EDIS with the existing hospital information system. Kiosks support provincial health card readers and provide instructions in five languages, among other features.

  • Baylor Scott & White Health has selected the provider data management platform of Kyruus to build a single, up-to-date provider directory with provider-matching application programming interfaces to enhance the consumer online experience. The APIs will support condition- and symptom-based provider searches and help providers manage their profiles. The platform gives the 48-hospital delivery system a single point of access to provider data by integrating and reconciling data from many sources on an on-going basis, according to the vendor.
  • The Huntington’s Disease Society of America will offer free online therapy to individuals with the disease using the telehealth platform of American Well. Licensed social workers and psychologists will be available online across the nation to help patients manage emotional symptoms and the burden of the disease. Teva Pharmaceuticals is funding the project. A free app to access the online therapy is available here.
  • Valley Regional Imaging, an independent outpatient imaging center serving the Fayetteville/Cumberland region of North Carolina, will implement revenue cycle and practice management software from Zotec Partners. The vendor has served Valley Regional’s operating partner, Valley Radiology, since 2007, and now Valley Regional is getting automated technology to better meet complex and unique billing requirements, which will ease MACRA and MIPS reporting requirements.
