Hayes Management Consulting has established an inpatient division to assist delivery systems in enterprise implementation of clinical and financial/administrative information systems.

The Newton, Mass.-based consultancy's core business has been on the ambulatory side, although it has conducted multiple inpatient strategic planning and enterprise implementations. Now, it's developing its inpatient business into a core competency and has hired Amitav Hajra, a former manager at Epic Systems Corp., to lead the new division.

At Epic, Hajra helped develop the vendor's inpatient electronic health record and has expertise in multiple applications on the inpatient and ambulatory side. He also has expertise in GE Centricity, Microsoft SQL, IBM's DB2 databases, Oracle and Meditech, according to Hayes.

Most recently, he managed development and implementation of clinical applications at provider sites Carilion Clinic, Aspirius and Marshfield Clinic.
