The initiative includes $70 million in grants to community colleges to create health IT education and training programs or expand existing programs. The colleges would establish intensive, non-degree training programs that can be completed in six months or less, according to ONC. The application deadline is Jan. 22, 2010.

Another $10 million in grants are available to support health I.T. curriculum development. Up to five grants will be made. The application deadline is Jan. 14, 2010.
