Google Joins PwC Team Aiming for Defense EHR Contract
Google is now a member of the PricewaterhouseCoopers vendor team competing for the Department of Defense electronic health records contact valued at up to $11 billion.
Google is now a member of the PricewaterhouseCoopers vendor team competing for the Department of Defense electronic health records contact valued at up to $11 billion.
The PwC team has bid to build an open architecture EHR and Google brings additional expertise in that arena as well as enhancing the scalability of Web-based systems.
PWCs team originally included commercial EHR vendors DSS Inc. and Medsphere Systems Corp., and systems integrator General Dynamics IT. PwC later added MedicaSoft, which sells a clinical/financial/administrative hospital information system including a patient portal and personal health records software, and is led by former officials of the Department of Veterans Affairs, which will need to integrate with the DoD system.
Four teams of health information technology vendors and government IT contractors are hoping to get the DoD contract and submitted their bids at the end of October. The other teams are Leidos/Accenture/Cerner/ Intermountain Healthcare/Henry Schein; IBM/Epic/Impact Advisors; and Computer Sciences Corp./ Allscripts/Hewlett-Packard.
