The MetroChicago Health Information Exchange will use the HIE platform and master patient index software of HealthUnity Corp., Bellevue, Wash. It also has contracted for the Amalga data aggregation and analytics software of Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash.

Falls Church, Va.-based Computer Sciences Corp. will provide project management, implementation, hosting and support services.

MetroChicago HIE initially will offer a clinical summary of care from multiple providers, and support public health reporting and surveillance. At least 66 hospitals and major outpatient centers have submitted letters of intent to participate. Participating organizations will fund the HIE. More information is available at mchc.com/eweb/.
