Six presentations on issues related to accountable care organizations form the base for a special package of events focused on the transformation of care expected of ACOs during February’s HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla.

The package, “Leading from the Future: A Thought Leadership Event on Accountable Care Organizations,” is designed to give provider executives a better understanding of the issues and information technology ramifications of ACOs.

Issues covered will include ACO qualification criteria, payment methodologies and incentives, performance measurement and reporting, clinical integration as the foundation for ACOs, the need for high quality data, payer perspectives, and an update from federal officials, among others.

Organizations already undergoing the transformation will make presentations. The package will include guided tours of the HIMSS11 Interoperability Showcase, RFID Pavilion and Innovations Pavilion, as well as a networking event at “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios.

The cost for the package on Feb. 23-24 is $325 or $75 if registered for HIMSS11. More information is available at http://himssconference.org/future/.
