The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration is rolling out free personal health records software for the state's 2.6 million Medicaid recipients.

The PHR will be available within 30 days at FloridaHealthFinder.gov, accessible via a Medicaid I.D. number. The state is the first to offer all Medicaid recipients a PHR, says agency Secretary Holly Benson.

The PHR initially will enable users to enter and access personal health information; create a family history; track information such as weight, blood sugar levels, blood pressure and other health indicators; print an emergency contact wallet card that includes important health information; and access medical reference content.

Jacksonville, Fla.-based electronic data interchange vendor Availity LLC will host the PHR, supplied by HealthTrio LLC, Centennial, Colo. The reference content vendor is Boise, Idaho-based Healthwise.

In a second phase, the agency will populate PHRs with pertinent Medicaid claims data and also offer a Spanish version.
