Government contractor MAXIMUS Inc. and Connecture, a vendor of Web-based insurance shopping, enrollment and administration software, have teamed to go after the market for state insurance exchanges.

The Affordable Care Act mandates the exchanges to ease the selection and purchase of health coverage by individuals and small employers. The alliance combines MAXIMUS' expertise in eligibility and enrollment for state Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Programs with Connecture's technology to build a health insurance exchange.

MAXIMUS is an eligibility and enrollment services administrator for nearly 20 million Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries.
