Revenue and profit grew during the first quarter of 2010 for Emdeon Inc., a vendor of revenue cycle management software and services, including the nation's largest claims clearinghouse.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Emdeon had first quarter net income of $4.3 million, a 30 percent increase compared with the same period a year ago. Quarterly revenue increased 8 percent to $237.3 million.

Emdeon ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $220.4 million, and long-term debut of $854.5 million. The company reaffirmed its 2010 financial performance expectations of adjusted earnings per share of 90-94 cents and revenue of $1.0-1.06 billion.
