The behavioral health care system within the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Piscataway, N.J., will implement the vxVistA electronic health records system and ancillary software of DSS Inc., Juno Beach, Fla.

The EHR is a commercialized version of the Veterans Administration's VistA records software. More than 600 clinical staff at the university will use the software at 11 locations.

The university also will implement the vendor's suite of mental health applications to create, edit and view mental health treatment plans electronically. Other applications include release of information, document imaging and management, and clinical notes templates.
