Alliance Health Networks, a health care social networking site, has acquired medical information content vendor Medify for an undisclosed sum.
Salt Lake City-based Alliance Health Networks has more than 50 condition-specific Web sites serving 1.5 million registered users. Seattle-based Medify uses data extraction and analysis technologies to mine patient experience data from more than 20 million research studies, and adds 5,000 new studies a day, according to the company.
For your consideration: Feature about using social media for clinical trial recruitment.
Medify now will integrate user-generated content from Alliance Health Networks sites into its technology, and continue to operate a standalone Web site. Combining the companies will better help consumers make smart health care decisions for every drug, treatment and condition, says Stead Burwell, CEO at Alliance Health Networks.
