Germany-based health care software vendor CompuGroup Medical will acquire the revenue cycle management and ambulatory electronic health records/physician practice management business lines of HealthPort Inc., for $24.3 million.
It is at least the third U.S. health I.T. acquisition for CompuGroup. The company bought Cleveland-based Noteworthy Medical Systems in February 2009 and Tampa-based Visionary Healthware Group in August 2010. Both vendors serve ambulatory practices.
The business lines being acquired from HealthPort had earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $1.9 million on revenue of $28 million last year. Alpharetta, Ga.-based HealthPort will retain its release of information, audit management, RAC management, and document imaging and management software and services.
