The American Academy of Professional coders and claims clearinghouse Navicure Inc. are jointly developing programs to aid physician practices in transitioning to the HIPAA 5010 transaction sets and ICD-10 code sets.
"Practices often think about 5010 and ICD-10 as one transition, when in reality these are two very distinct transitions that will require two independent transition plans and schedules," says Deb Grider, CEO and president of AAPC.
The new programs include a Web site with such content as implementation timelines and checklists for the transitions, payer 5010 readiness announcements, mapping resources, white papers, glossaries of terms, frequently asked questions, and a series of Web seminars.
The organizations also are scheduling a series of regional dinners across the nation featuring experts discussing steps for a smooth transition to ICD-10. More information on all of the services is available at the new site, icd10hub.com.
