CMS Seeks Answers to Measuring Health Plan Value

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has issued a request for information on how to measure the value of health benefit plans that will be offered through state insurance exchanges.


The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has issued a request for information on how to measure the value of health benefit plans that will be offered through state insurance exchanges.

Stakeholders also are asked to comment on existing quality measures and rating systems, strategies and requirements for quality improvement, and purchasing strategies to promote care redesign and patient safety. CMS further seeks recommendations on how best to enhance and align quality reporting and display requirements for qualified health plans in exchanges, in conjunction with existing quality improvement initiatives such as the National Quality Strategy.

The RFI has 15 categories of questions with multiple queries in many of the categories. The RFI, with a 30-day comment period, is available here with publication scheduled on Nov. 27 in the Federal Register.
