CMS Corrects ACO Application Date
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has corrected the date that applications are due for organizations wishing to participate in the Pioneer Accountable Care Organization Model program. According to a notice being published on June 8 and available now, the sentence "Applications must be received on or before July 19, 2011," is corrected to read, "Applications must be postmarked on or before July 18, 2011."

CMS expects about 30 organizations will test the ACO model with a minimum of 15,000 Medicare beneficiaries each except for rural sites which will have at least 5,000 beneficiaries (see story).
