Health Data Management has confirmed the departure of Tom Stephenson as CEO of community hospital information systems vendor Healthcare Management Systems of Nashville, Tenn.

The HIStalk blog first reported the morning of March 30 that Stephenson had apparently left the firm and no longer was listed as an executive on the HMS Web site.

The vendor in a statement to HDM said: “Everyone at HMS wishes Tom Stephenson the best as he leaves to pursue some long-time interests.  Tom played a major role in the growth of the company over his long tenure here, and his leadership was influential in developing the company’s foundation for success.  Moving forward, Steve Starkey, Chief Operating Officer, is stepping into the role of Interim President.  We look forward to another strong year with new offerings for our customers and strong momentum in the industry.”
