Catholic Health Initiatives has significantly expanded an existing relationship with ambulatory/inpatient software vendor Allscripts.

The Denver-based chain of 73 hospitals already is deploying Allscripts' ambulatory electronic health records software for its 1,050 employed physicians in 350 practices. Now, it will add practice management software and transactions processing services from Allscripts' Payerpath claims clearinghouse for the owned practices.  Catholic Health will implement in its 73 hospitals performance management and community data exchange software from the Chicago-based vendor.

Catholic Health Initiatives also has created the Ambulatory Electronic Health Record Community Program to encourage 7,200 affiliated physicians in 18 states to automate. Under the program, designed in part to help physicians qualify for meaningful use incentive payments, the delivery system has endorsed Allscripts' software and connectivity services with preferred pricing.
