Avera Health selects PeriWatch labor analysis system

In other initiatives, WellSpan Health to offer Babyscripts app, wireless BP cuff to expecting moms.

Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of new health IT contract wins and go-lives:
  • Avera Health System in Sioux Falls, S.D., an 18-hospital delivery system, is implementing the PeriWatch labor analysis software in 14 of its birthing units. The first four locations going live also are adding the vendor’s patient safety tools that include PeriWatch Cues, which is fetal surveillance software that uses artificial intelligence to help clinicians interpret fetal heart rate patterns using a standardized assessment. The software also will offer rural hospitals a direct connection to the tertiary care center in Sioux Falls to provide immediate second opinions on a fetal monitoring strip.
  • WellSpan Health, serving central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, will offer to pregnant patients the Babyscripts mobile app and a wireless blood pressure cuff for use before the birth of their babies, as well as after the birth. Patients will be able to send health data remotely to their providers, and the app also offers evidence-based guidelines covering nutritional, medical and lifestyle action items. “We understand that every pregnancy is different, and an expectant mom can have a question about any part of her journey at any time,” says Megan Lecas, vice president of women and children’s services at WellSpan.

  • Rock Regional Hospital, a new acute care facility in Derby, Kan., expected to open in the first quarter of 2019, will implement the CareVue Cloud electronic health record of Medsphere Systems, along with the vendor’s revenue cycle and financial management components available through Amazon Web Services. Medsphere is teaming up with Candor Healthcare, a hospital management firm, to work on the implementation.
  • Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington has gone live on the medical device integration, clinical surveillance and real-time data analytics platform of Bernoulli. Various brands of patient care devices such as physiologic monitors, ventilators, incubators, CRRT systems, perfusion equipment and the electronic health records system are now integrated. Among the early benefits reported by the hospital is the fact that a laborious manual process of printing and scanning waveform strips previously done by nurses now is automated.
  • The Village of Victory Lakes, a senior living community in Lindenhurst, Ill., will use telemedicine services from TripleCare to enable remote consultations with patients and nurses at the bedside. TripleCare-employed physicians will perform virtual bedside visits with patients, assisted by a nurse in the facility, during overnight, weekend and holiday hours when regular physicians are not on site.
