RadarFind Corp., a vendor of radio frequency identification technology to track patients and assets, has introduced an alarm system to alert staff to equipment being moved to inappropriate locations.
The Morrisville, N.C.-based vendor developed Sentry AV at the request of a client, Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va. The hospital wanted to alert staff when wearable cardiac telemetry units were headed towards the laundry or exits.
Wall-mounted Sentry AV devices integrate with RadarFind's wireless sensor network. The devices trigger an audible alarm, or send alerts to e-mail, pagers or computer screens if tagged devices approach an exclusion zone.
The new Sentry AV product also can trigger an alarm if temperatures in a refrigerator or freezer move outside a pre-determined range.
