MedeAnalytics Inc., a vendor of health care business intelligence software focusing on performance management to improve clinical, financial and operational outcomes, has published a free white paper summarizing the final Medicare Shared Savings/Accountable Care Organization rule.

The report summarizes nearly 20 major components of the rule. It also includes tables comparing major differences between the proposed and final rules, and comparing the final rule's quality measures with other quality reporting programs.

The report concludes: "True to CMS' promise to give serious consideration to each and every suggestion for improvement, the final rule strikes the dual tones of accommodation and optimism. In almost every aspect of the regulation--notably with respect to quality measures and the financial models--the final rule is more generous, flexible and supportive to providers. Time will tell whether this voluntary program will regain the momentum and sense of optimism about Medicare ACOs that preceded the proposed rule." The report is available at medeanalytics.com/aco.

Health Data Management will host a Web seminar Thursday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. to break down the final ACO rule. To register for the free event, click here.
