Software vendor Allscripts will integrate its ambulatory Professional EHR and Enterprise EHR products with payer analytics software from Inovalon to assist providers and insurers who need data from each other to succeed in shared-risk relationships.

The goal is to enable payers to have access to clinical data for analysis to improve provider risk scoring, with providers participating in accountable care organizations and other risk-based arrangements having access to analytical reports that help them improve care while lowering costs.

“Medical record review processes, which help determine provider risk scores as well as payer and regulatory compliance, can be complex, inconsistent and lengthy when they are paper-based,” says Faisal Mushtaq, head of Allscripts’ payer/life sciences business unit. “Sharing clinical data and applying payer analytics to the data provides not only a streamlined, consistent and efficient approach to the process, but also additional insights to improve care.”

The integration partnership also will aid providers and payers in complying with new treatment/payment models that tie outcomes to reimbursement.
