Allegiance Health expands its use of Medhost EHR

In other contract agreements, Tahoe Forest Health scraps eight records systems and picks Epic.

Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of new health IT contracts and go-lives.

Allegiance Health Management, with 12 behavioral, long-term acute care and short-term acute care facilities in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas, will implement enterprise clinical, financial, emergency department and patient/provider portal software from MEDHOST in eight of its hospitals. One of the Allegiance hospitals, Sabine Medical Center in Louisiana, has been a MEDHOST client since 2004 using the clinical and financial systems, and its experience was instrumental in selecting the vendor for additional hospitals, according to the organization. Implementation began during the fourth quarter of 2017.

Tahoe Forest Health System, a delivery system with two hospitals in Truckee, Calif., and Incline Village, Nev., has gone live on the Epic electronic heath record system. The organization had been maintaining eight EHRs as well as third-party ancillary systems and expects significant savings with Epic being a more cost-efficient option. Tahoe Forest also will use the methodology and support services of Mercy Technology Services. “The cherry on top is time saved and a boost to quality and safety with a tightly integrated EHR that just works,” says Chrystal Betts, chief financial officer.

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, which includes independent Chesapeake Regional Medical Center serving parts of Virginia and North Carolina, will deploy the glycemic management software of Glytec to support optimization of intravenous and subcutaneous insulin therapy during hospitalization. The technology also will offer evidence-based decision support guidance on transitions in insulin therapy from the hospital to the home. Glytec will help the provider develop a continuous improvement program covering surveillance, protocols, order sets, workflows, education, governance, measurement, analytics and response mechanisms.

Steward Health Care System, a large delivery system with 36 hospitals in 10 states, as well as urgent care, skilled nursing and behavioral health facilities plus insurance plans, has been a Meditech client for 19 years and now is adding more technology. The organization will implement the vendor’s Web EHR at eight new sites in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida facilities by 2018.

VillageMD-New Hampshire, which is developing an integrated network of primary care providers affiliated with Derry Medical Center and Southern New Hampshire Internal Medicine Associates, will implement the analytics and care management platform of Theon. The platform will support care management for patients in an accountable care organization and also support two health plans.
