Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care is offering interoperability software to its 12 hospitals and affiliated physicians to aid the exchange of data.

The HealthDock application from San Jose, Calif.-based Certify Data Systems covers the "last mile" of connectivity to physician offices, enabling practices to access hospital lab, pathology, radiology and transcription reports, and import them into an electronic health records system. In recent months, 29 practices using 15 different EHRs have deployed the software.

Use of HealthDock is part of an initiative to build an enterprisewide health information exchange, says John Norenberg, vice president of physician services at Advocate.
