Tibotec Virco Virology, a biotechnology firm specializing in HIV drug resistance testing, has acquired the LAB TRACKER HIV electronic medical record software of Ground Zero Software, San Francisco. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

LAB TRACKER is an EMR specifically designed for the treatment of patients living with HIV/AIDS. The application supports the exchange of data among clinics, laboratories, radiologists and pharmacies, according to the vendor. It also supports clinical history tracking, regulatory reporting and data analysis.

The software further can graph viral load and CD4 trends against antiretroviral therapy (to suppress the virus), making it a logical extension of Tibotec Virco's services, says Werner Verbiest, general manager.
